An Introduction To Bikram Yoga

The majority of people have knowledge with what Yoga is, or think they know about what it sets out to achieve. However until you have tried Yoga it's impossible to know whether you have the type of personality that can truly excel under it's influence. Yoga,  can be a life changing experience and the discipline and mental strength that result from it can completely change your views and experiences.

One method of Yoga is know as Bikram Yoga. This is often referred to as 'hot yoga' because it is done in a room, heated, which the temperature is set at 105F as it is supposed to replicate the climate of India. Yoga has multiple goals - to build your inner strength  as well as your outer physical strength.  A component of Bikram Yoga is the flexibility and balance required to perform these exercises and it is believed that this comes from mental strength as much as physical practice, as some require stretching of your muscles. The base of Bikram Yoga are in Hatha Yoga, which is a healing form of Yoga that strengthens your body and mind.

You can also make yoga fun by competing with your partner or friend on the poses, as it is supposed to help build your strength and improve yourself for doing this together can help with relaxation and can make it more enjoyable. There have been trends on TikTok of couples doing yoga poses and this is a great form of exercise to show confidence.

Young children can do this yoga, but would recommend not to use the heated room as this can cause problems. If you have children that want to participate, you can do the poses at home and watch videos on how to safely do them if not going to a class or joining a group.

The founder of Bikram Yoga was Bikram Choudhury as they were determined to find a way to recover because they had a weightlifting accident, for which they investigated the healing ability of practicing different types of exercise.  The result was Bikram Yoga, which so many  found to be an effective method of healing that others recorded the results and passed it on as a new form of Yoga.  Those who practise Bikram Yoga purely for it's healing benefits are plentiful, but there is more to it as it is popular with regular users.

You first have to develop the mental strength required to discipline yourself before doing this form of yoga.  If you can master your mental strength, in Yoga, then the physical benefits will be forthcoming. The medical benefits are beyond question and have been shown to improve other ailments as well as greatly assist in the treatment and recovery of tissue injuries.

Bikram Yoga has the ability to assist in the recovery of internal tissue. The positions practised will replenish cells and assist in the lymphatic system flushing toxins from the body.  In addition to the toxin drain the cells are assisted by higher oxygen flows during and after exercise.T o get the best benefits from the exercise a healthy and well balanced body was important.  If the body is weak Bikram Yoga will have not much affect in the healing process, which relies on the correct balance and circulation.  

Bikram demonstrated 26 exercises and recommended a regime, which was to be practised every single day in order to get the results needed.  Each posture exercise was developed  on the background of both Eastern and Western Yoga disciplines. They all focus on the movement and pressure on muscles, nerves, ligaments glands and organs.  The exercises are meant to be performed together and in sequence, because they are all important to each other and helps not to cause any injuries. It is low impact and can be performed by people of all different ages, as long as you can with stand the heat.
