The Basic Guideline about Article Directories

The Internet had given birth to a new way and purpose for article writing, as It was solely used for the  craft and the glee that a writer feels when their work gets published, as they put all their effort into writing it. However the cyber world created concepts like article directories that prompted business people to think about articles in different ways.

Marketing Your Business

Have you ever tried writing articles for directory sites? The first thing to do is to establish yourself as an expert in your chosen field of interest, for example if your company sells MMA equipment, then you will have to write articles on that topic and maybe sub catergories of what to eat to train into MMA.

You see, it is all about spreading the word about your business and promoting your products and services to a target audience or to other countries. Publishing articles is a subtle way to let people know more about you, get interested with the information that you are giving or writing about, then the reader can click on the link that you provided them with.

It's important to write good content, not because you can submit these directories for free and forget about the quality of your work. You need to get the readers' attention and the only way to do that is by giving them what they want. Give them useful information that they would definitely like to know.

The readers need to be hooked on what you wrote, for them to take interest and click on your link  inserted in your bio space. The link will lead your possible future clients to your own website. Then you can promote and advertising whatever topic of interest you want, resulting for a sale.

Small Guide

You will find a lot of free submission sites, on the internet, once you delve on the task of looking for them. There are certain guidelines and rules to follow for each site. Here are some basic ones that can help you prepare and start on your articles.

1. Focus on word count

Some submission sites will reject your articles for the mere fact that you lacked some words in your piece, for this it is better to draft your articles on Microsoft Word because you can check your grammer and keep an eye on your word count. Some websites, a small few, will allow 300 word count for the articles, but the majority prefer a minimum of 500. My suggestion is to focus between 500 and 750 word count articles on your favourite topic.

2. Avoid spamming your article in unrelevant categories

Choose a category where you think your articles will best fit in, for example the MMA topic will fit in Sport and may be exercise equipment if your business sells products like mouth guards. Do not post your material on multiple categories for each site, as this will result in spamming and the site can ban you for this act.

Mentioned about Sport and Exercise equipment, this is fine and will not get reported for spamming. Your article can get reported for spamming, if say you put it in MMA, Sport, Weightloss, Diet, Health and more categories. Do not do this and only stick with the mimum of two or one major focused area.

3. URL placement

Read carefully what the site's guideline is about placing your URLs, as some may allow it in the body of text or at the end in the bio box. Also make sure that your URL is not too long because that will make it unprofessional. I suggest, if allowed, to use an URL shortener like bitly because that will make it more suitable.

4. Language of your article

Basically, the language of your articles must be in English, but if your target audience is from a different country, then you can add a translator on your website so that others can read it. You can look for submission sites that cater for different languages. This can be done if you really want to broaden the reach of your content.

You must remain professional sounding when it comes to your work. Don't use any offensive language as this may be taken as a negative feeling against you. Pick the right article directories that you will be submitting your work to. You can check the web page rankings on Google and Alexa to gain more knowledge, to see if the sites have high traffic or not.
